Once again (for the fifth consecutive time), the AI Mashup Challenge was a great success. This year, 8 groups registered for the event and 5 of them qualified to participate in the AI Mashup Challenge.
The Talks session on Tuesday draw the attention of a big audience that apparently never lost interest in the presentations. On the contrary, during the customary conversations after the session, many people expressed their appreciation of the fact that presentations were short but concise.
During the AI mashup Challenge Poster session that followed the Talks, the Challengers received the attention they deserved and the Doodle-like Voting app on the laptop caught fire! The end of the day found us all exhausted but with a smile on our faces. Needless to say, this didn't prevent some of us to go out for a drink in nearby bars later on.
Wednesday was a rather quiet day at the Conference. The Challengers enjoyed the remaining presentations and I spent most of my time calculating and taking care of the organizational issues of the Award ceremony that was scheduled for the next day.
On Friday, at the time of the awards ceremony, a nice surprise was waiting for the Challengers. Apart from the winning team, each of the remaining Challengers would receive a book that was generously offered by Springer. After a neck-and-neck competition, Ali, Soren and Axel won the first prize. This was the end of what I consider as a successful event and I hope to see you all next year at ESWC 2015 in beautiful Slovenia!
